Red hair to Purple hair?

At the moment I have medium coloured red hair, but I want to dye it a vibrant purple.

Problem being I can't bleach my hair, last time I did it almost all fell out...

anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

you wont get a very vibrant purple without bleaching it first....if you put purple over what you have now, it will be more of a burgundy. you might want to do maybe some clip on hair extensions that are bright purple. i have been coloring my hair purple and pink for a long time and if your hair is not bleached out light enough you will not get the vibrant color you want. good luck.

My hair is coloured with pure, Body Art Quality henna. It is a deep burgundy tone that can look plummy in some light. Not true purple, but burgundy.

Henna is safe to use over chemical dye. With repeated applications it gets darker and deeper. It will turn to a plummy burgundy over time.

BUT it is permanant. And I do mean permanant. The only way to remove it is to grow it out and trim it away or try to bleach it out which would destroy your hair because the bleach has to stay in so long to remove the henna.

You could try a deep burgundy-plummy colour box dye. It should give you a burgundy over your red, but you won't get a true, clear purple without bleaching.

First able you should never paint your hair purple. It looks very ugly. You hvae to becarful on the products you use. Mkae sure it is very popular. And this time paint your hair and then squark it out and let it dry. Hopes this helps.

Get a really bright purple. Maybe brighter than you want, and leave it on twice as long, maybe even overnight, and, in the last ten or twenty minutes, process with a blow dryer. Wash out with cold water, with some of the leftover dye (if any) in your conditioner, then don't wash your hair for a while. It should brighten up a bit without shampooing. Hope this helps.
