How would my medium brown/auburn hair turn out if I dyed it red?

My hair is medium brown with a lot of red and some blonde highlights (all natural). Under sunlight or bright light indoors it looks dark red.

How would it look if I tried to dye it dark red? How often would I have to touch up the roots? How would I go about growing it out if I wanted to?
