The best way to go from brown to blonde, is bleaching it. That can take a real toll on your hair too. You don't want it orange, it can take several bleachings to get it light enough to put a blonde on it. If you just put a color on your hair, it won't come out dark blonde. It might lighten up some, but I don't think it will be what you are expecting. There are those new colors out however that are for dark hair and are supposed to lighten pretty good. Wal mart carries these, and even Sally's has a hair color to do that. You might check on using those. Good luck.

Hi, I have medium brown hair and have better luck just getting blonde highlights. It looks more natural than dyeing your hair all one color. I color about every 3 months. Sometimes I have it done professionally and sometimes I do it myself with Revlon Frosting kits. Anyway, it you are intent on dyeing it blonde, I would suggest Natural Instincts because it is a semi-permanent color and will wash out eventually. That way you don't have a permanent committment in case you don't like the way it turns out. Hope this helps - good luck !

I would say do lots and lots of little "dark brown" streakies. Start out with a few and add more if you like it.

Normally, going a lighter colour will look a little off. Bud it all depends on how the colouring is done :D

When you change the color from dark to light it is called hi-lightening or bleaching. Dyeing is going from a light color to a darker one.

The length of time between colorings depends on how healthy your hair is and what type of coloring you do. Bleaching or lightening hair is more damaging and dyeing doesn't do as much damage. Also the length of your hair is a factor, if it is short and you have it trimmed every few weeks or months you can color more often (about every 4 to 6 weeks) because you are cutting off the damaged hair. If you hair is long you mostly just have to concentrate on the "new growth" and try not to do any chemical processes to the rest of your hair and use a GOOD conditioner between colorings.

get a thick sock.

cut off the toe part- just the tip.

then roll the sock into a doughnut shape with the elastic stretchy part last, to hold it together.

ok- so now you have a sock shaped like a doughnut...

now, with your hair already in a ponytail, put the sock on like a scrunchie- just once, dont try to wrap it twice or you'll break your fingers off, then look down and spread your hair around the sock to cover it -like so if you stick your finger in the middle of the sock it feels like a hole surrounded by hair- you know?

then to hold it in place- use a regular scrunchie. and there you have the illusion of having longer and thicker hair!! in a bun- not a pony tail!!!

Maybe you should go to a good salon and get it cut in layers! It will be a different style and when you want to put in a ponytail you can, but if you want to leave it out--it will be in layers. Also the layered look has a lot of versatility--you can feather it and curl it as well...

I, too, have medium-length hair and I know how it gets boring sometimes. But thanks to TV and fashion magazines, I've found different hairstyles that look good on me without compromising hair length.

Do you have bangs? Bangs frame faces beautifully and are so in right now. Have your stylist cut you bangs by the eye level so you can put it in different ways. You can keep it sideswept, or have a heavy fringe. If you want it off your face, pull it to the side and clip it. If you want a more modern look, pull and tease it up, pompadour style, and clip it for a faux "mohawk" look.

Also, everyone looks good in layers. If you have a round face, keep layers choppy to "square" your face. if you have an oval face, graduated layers are the way to go.

On styles, for casual days,

1. you can opt to keep it straight and down

2. you can put it in loose curls

3. wear a headband

4. try a high ponytail, with loose curls at the end for a more high-end look

5. tie your hair to one side and curl the ends

6. just-out-of-bed messy head; use wax

For more special occasions.

1. you can put it in tigter curls

2. put it in a chignon, just style your bangs

3. Flip it out

I need advice from people who are brunette and consistently dye their hair blonde. I am a natural medium brunette with currently dark brown and somewhat damaged hair. I have been blonde before and would really like to be blonde again despite my hair's slight damage.

I have naturally dark brown hair and used to maintain blonde hair in high school. When I started going blonde, I began with heavy highlights done every 6 weeks. Each time my highlights became lighter. After the first 6 months, I began to get a double process color, where the hairstylist lightened all of my hair to a honey blonde, then added platinum highlights on top of that. Once I started getting the double process color, I had to go in for root touch ups every 3-4 weeks.

Overall, the look was very high maintenance to keep up, and I easily spent around $70-$100 each visit, which ended up being around $100-150 per month, with haircut. I had also been going to my hairstylist for 3-4 years by then, so I was paying a lot less than I would going to a different upscale salon (it could have been at least $150 per visit).

*Keep it "wet"looking- that kind of look when you get out of the shower. Some guys think its sexy. ;D

Personally, I love long hair. The longer the better. Grow it down to your ankles! Not many girls go to all the extra trouble involved in having and caring for long hair, though. I also prefer brown or black hair to blonde hair. That's just my personal preference.

Have someone pull your hair through a frosting cap and apply a semi permanant color. They should have on the box whether they wash out in so many washes.

Highlights are the process of removing hair color, it is not actually a color.

An artificial blonde hair color basically breaks down and removes a percentage of the natural pigment in the hair shaft and then applies an artificial pigment to counteract the results.

I would suggest you have your stylist give you a light partial weave. If you like it you can have more put in if not then its really easy to tint it back to your original color.

Please do not try this with a home kit as you'll probably end up with brassy nasty looking streaks.

Getting all your hair to be a lighter brown will not be easy to do on your own. I would recommend that if you are doing this on your own that you use a semi-permanent color close to your natural color to blend your highlights in. Keep doing that for about 3 months and then in the fall you should be able to go ahead and use a lighter brown over your entire head and get the results you are looking for. I'm afraid with summer approaching and the multiple shades you have in your hair that trying to do this on your own right now will leave you with a lot of brassiness that will be very difficult to combat while maintaining the integrity of your hair.

There are a lot of great products out there right now. I like Pantene a lot. Even better than a lot of my professional products. (Sorry stylists, don't mean to hurt your commission, but it's true)

BETWEEN the foils they are going to come up with a permanent formula to lift your roots to a nice soft brown. In the end this will softly blend together. They are going to recommend a color depositing shampoo and cond to help prolong their color work.

I have extremely thick, curly hair that is medium to coarse in texture due to my Greek heritage.

My hair is in layers so the issue is not volume, but shape. My ringlets always seem to separate by the end of the day, leaving me with a messy frizz look.

I've tried several Garnier products for curly hair, but they just make my hair look greasy and does nothing to control the poofy-ness; moreover, the Bedhead products make my hair feel really brittle. Finally, I'm allergic to Pantene because my scalp always feels like a swarm of fire ants has attacked me after using their products.

Currently, I'm using gel from Tresemme for curly hair but it doesn't seem to keep my ringlets in shape for long. Is there any other product out there that anyone recommends? Should I be using a gel or mousse? Thank you so much!

The problem is that you're using inferior products. I also have long, curly hair and it's important to use a very reputable product specialized for your particular texture. Your hair needs lots of moisture because of it's thickness and courseness, as well as a product to control the curl because you don't want to straighten/blow dry.

The best product you can get for curly hair is Kerastase Oleo-Curl Range (see here: http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us/con... ). Of course there's no need to buy everything, but purchasing the shampoo and curl definiton oil will keep your curls looking healthy and moisturized. Unfortunately, curls tend to look dry, brittle, split or frizzy when they're not given large doses of moisture. I've used every brand you mentioned except for Tresemme as well as many others and this is the best line I've come across, and it's been recommended by every major hair stylist.

Another product I'd highly recommend is the Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm (see here: http://www.amazon.com/Phyto-Phytodefrisa... ). well before even looking, i figured you would look better with the long hair.. because naturally, its the safest. thats coming from someone who is terrified to cut her hair by the way =]] but there are a small percentage of people who just look better with short hair. i think the short hair just really works for you. it makes you stand out, and it fits your face nicely. your lucky you can pull off the short hair, not all people can. so for me, i think the shortest is the best -- its original, and just suites you well! =D

Medium layers are great.

You can't go wrong if you straighten your hair. That's not new, but always pretty.

But curls and waves can be cool too, and they're quick and easy.Try a conditioning cream, or smoothing cream, like Sunsilk, or even Suave (there are many others). Put in in your hair when wet and it really takes away the frizz, so any natural curl or wave you have comes out and you don't have the crunchy or sticky feel that styling products can leave.

Pull up hair on sides (leaving the rest down) and secure it with small bobby pins.

A cat like yours would probably be best described as an 'American Shorthair':Cream Tabby with White. This essentially means she is mostly white, with cream splotches over her body, (they are too light to be called 'red') and in the cream splotches you can see a Tabby striped pattern.

American Shorthairs CAN have the 'Van Pattern' that you mentioned above without being a Turkish Van breed - but she has too many splotches on the sides to be considered this. She can also be called a 'bicolor' cat, which is white paired with any other color.

She looks like a perfectly wonderful mixed breed kitty. A Turkish Van has softer, somewhat longer fur. To know if she was a particular breed you'd have to have gotten her from a breeder, or had papers for her.

But she does look really cool, and IMHO there's nothing wrong with mixed breed household pets. My husband and I are owned by 3 such kitties. And we love them all dearly.

and let the rest of your hair down. you can do a side ponytail, a regular pony tail, whether it's tied high or low .. it all depends on your facial features, and what look would compliment your look :) layers are always nice, but if cut too short, it's a hassle to manage. i got my hair layered and they were cut pretty short, and now it's really poofy, and i have to straighten my hair everytime i go out .. and as a result my hair is fried from straightening it constantly :[ so i reccomend getting long layers .. good luck !

I would have to say a darker, richer color shirt because it will play up your tan and probably bring out the natural highlights in your hair. Maybe try to find a medium wash jeans, or match them depending on the shirt you are wearing. I would probably stay away from the darkest ones though!

Thank God hair grows back.

this is why we shouldn't color our own hair. stuff like that should be left up to proffesionals. their are three different types of ash blonde light medium and dark. Dark ash blonde is the same color as light brown just wash it a few times with cheap shampoo and it will be fine(hairdresser of ten years)

did you look at the color number on the box and compare it to the color on the dye in the box? One time when I dyed my hair, the colors were switched and I ended up with a totally different color than what I thought I was buying. The lady at the store said it happens all the time and that you should always open the box and make sure you're getting the right color.

By that I mean you have to use a bleaching agent first, then the slightly roughened hair can receive and hold on to a toning agent (color) which will tone down the golden or reddish tone created by bleaching to a suitable color. If you have brown hair and you put a semipermanent or temporary color on your hair, the hair absorbs some of the color (usually causing a darker color than you began with). Permanent colors are the only ones that have bleaching agents added to the color, but unless you get yours done by a professional, it is difficult to get the exact lighter color you want. Bleaching is a very tricky process. Hope this helps.

side bangs with lots of layers looks really good on medium hair especially if you want it to have lots of movement. Also you could go with more layers in the front and gradually go into the back with side bangs. Side bangs are definately in right now so take advantage of that. Just make sure to get bangs to fit your face shape. A stylest will elt youknow how you should get them cut to compliment your face. Hope this helps

I did carmel and a dark red and it looked great. 3:1 (3 carmel to every 1 red) If you go to a good stylist she/he will be able to help. I try to stay close to my natural highlights (that is if I had time to be out in the sun all day)

I have the same thing... All you need to do is Ask your hairdresser. I got a Carmel color with some dark blond. I don't get a lot of highlights though because you don't want to turn your head to stripes!! Don't go to more than two shades lighter or three shades darker.

When I got my highlights yesterday my stylist mixed two colors together Violet Red (Looks purple) and Red Violet (looks red) and it turned out awesome! It really depends on how drastic you want to go. You salon should have sample boards, don't do it yourself, that can never be good, and you can hold the samples up to see what you like with your skin tone and hair color. Unless you are really pale, something in the red family would probably be your best bet. You may want to start by doing a partial weave where they do just small pieces to make sure you like it first.

Get some nice Copper and Honey tones to your hair Get lowlights and highlights, but done by a stylist. it can be pricey but worth a new look you :)

But a bit of a health warning, plz get a dye test done first, to check that you are not gonna have a reaction to the chemicals. The stylist shuld place a tiny bit of dye on a cotton bud behind your ear, and leave the colorant there for a 24hr period. or maybe do a strand test which ever is suited to the colorants.
