I would suggest going to a hair salon and paying between 50 - 100 dollars. If you can't afford it and really want blonde hair then you will have to spend a lot of money anyway because you will need a few bottles of bleach. If you have only one bottle of bleach your hair will turn orange because there isn't enough bleach volume in it to make it a nice blonde. Trust me, it will turn a copper orange.
If you buy three bottles of bleach and continue dying your hair with one bottle after the other, your hair will turn a yellowish blonde. If you wait a few days and dye your hair again then it will keep progressing lighter.
See why it is so much easier to get it done at the salon? it will be well worth the money, I have tried dying my own dark brown hair blonde and hadn't achieved results until I had a hair dresser do it because their bleach has a higher volume.
If you just want to lighten your hair then you will still need to use bleach... You can try bleaching your hair and then dying over it with a light brown. Or add highlights, there are great high lighting kits at the drug store for under $15. Good luck!
